Virginia
Swingers clubs in Richmond, VA
Richmond has a moderate, well-connected scene that sits between the DC and Hampton Roads circuits and borrows from both.
What the scene here is like
The local scene is mid-sized and reasonably easy to enter, built on regular socials and a few long-running private groups. It has grown noticeably as the city has.
DC is two hours north and Virginia Beach ninety minutes east, and couples treat the whole corridor as available. That triples the practical calendar.
Where things actually happen
Activity spreads across the western suburbs and the near-west neighbourhoods, with the Fan and Scott's Addition carrying socials.
The metro is compact and drives easily. I-95 makes the DC calendar accessible, though the traffic on it is unpredictable enough to require a margin.
Timing, seasons and travel
Steady year-round with a humid summer dip. Spring and autumn are strongest.
Venues we have been able to verify
Short list, and deliberately so. Everything below was corroborated against at least one source that is not a directory, and carries the date it was last checked. Absence from this list means we have not verified a place, not that it does not exist.
| Venue | Type | Where | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Virginia's Secret | On-premise club | Richmond | Private, invitation-only social club built around a dance-club format, aimed at older and more established couples. The invitation-only model is characteristic of how Virginia's scene protects itself. Checked 2026-07 · MadameNoire national guide (2025), club's own site |
Confirm directly with the venue before you travel. Opening nights, membership requirements and admission policies change constantly, and we deliberately do not carry them here for exactly that reason.

Online first, then a social. The scene is friendly and reasonably open by regional standards.
The general order — talk to each other, then meet people online, then meet in public, then consider an event — is covered in how to find people.
Local safety notes
A lot of this scene works in state government and professional services. Take discretion norms seriously even if your own job is relaxed.
The universal rules are on our safety page: public first meeting, your own transport, somebody who knows your plans, and never sending money to anyone you have not met.
Virginia context
Virginia's alcohol regulation makes licensed adult venues impractical, so private events carry the calendar. More in our Virginia overview.
Questions about the Richmond scene
How do couples get started in Richmond?
The usual route is meeting people online first, then a drink somewhere public. Events come later, once a few faces are familiar.
Is there an active lifestyle scene in Richmond?
Yes — moderate locally, and effectively larger because of the DC and Hampton Roads corridor.
Do we have to do anything at our first event?
No — and most couples do not. Turning up, talking to a few people and going home is a completely normal first night, and nobody keeps score.
When is the best time of year in Richmond?
Spring and autumn.
How do we stay safe meeting people?
Meet somewhere public first, arrange your own transport, tell a friend where you are going, and never send money to anyone you have not met in person.
