For a metro of this size the scene is unusually well developed, helped by a general local openness about alternative relationships. Social events and organised groups carry most of the calendar.
The flip side is that swinging in the narrow sense is a smaller slice of a much larger non-monogamy scene here. A lot of what you find will be polyamorous or kink-adjacent, and people are generally explicit about which.
Where things actually happen
The east side carries most of the private and organised activity, with the inner neighbourhoods hosting socials and the outer ones hosting house events. The west side and the suburbs are quieter.
Portland is compact enough that geography is rarely the deciding factor, which is a relief after California. Most of the metro is within half an hour of most of the rest of it.
Timing, seasons and travel
The wet season from October to May keeps the indoor calendar busy. Summer is short, glorious and quiet, as most of the city disappears outdoors or to the coast.
