Basics
Cuckquean, explained
The female counterpart of cuckolding, far less written about and correspondingly less well understood.
A cuckquean is a woman whose arousal is connected to her partner's sexual involvement with other women. It is the direct counterpart of cuckolding and the word is centuries old — it appears in English well before the modern usage of either term.
Why you hear about it so much less
Not because it is rarer than people assume. The imbalance in how much is written about each is larger than the imbalance in how many people practise them.
Two plausible reasons come up repeatedly. Cultural narratives around infidelity assume male jealousy and female hurt, so the reverse gets little airtime. And a woman describing this dynamic publicly attracts a particular kind of unwanted attention, which suppresses how much gets said.
The practical consequence for anyone in this position: less written material, fewer communities, and a stronger sense of being unusual than the numbers justify.
What it actually involves
The same structure as cuckolding, with the roles reversed. Her partner has sexual experiences with other women; her own experience of that — being aware of it, being present for it, sometimes being excluded from it — is the point rather than the price.
As with the male version, the intensity varies enormously. Some couples keep it entirely to fantasy. Some involve a third person occasionally. Some run it as an ongoing arrangement.
Where it sits among the other terms
| Term | Who is involved with others |
|---|---|
| Cuckold | Her, with other men. His experience is the focus. |
| Cuckquean | Him, with other women. Her experience is the focus. |
| Hotwife / stag and vixen | Her, without the humiliation element. |
| Swinging | Both, symmetrically. |
The distinctions between the first three are covered in the comparison guide, and cuckolding has its own page — most of what it says applies here with the roles swapped.

More precisely than in most arrangements rather than less, because where humiliation is part of it, humiliation without boundaries stops being consensual very quickly.
- What language is acceptable, and what is not — stated specifically rather than discovered.
- Whether it stays contained. Most couples keep the dynamic to particular occasions. Those who let it leak into ordinary life are the ones who report damage.
- Whether anyone outside knows what role they are playing. Involving a third person in the humiliation element requires her agreement too, and it is frequently assumed rather than asked.
- A stop signal that works mid-scene and is honoured instantly.
- Aftercare. Time together afterwards, unhurried. Borrowed from kink and genuinely necessary.
The specific risks
Isolation. Because so little is written about it, women in this position often have nobody to compare notes with. That makes it harder to tell an ordinary difficult patch from a real problem.
Asymmetric information. The excluded partner processes it alone and afterwards, and usually has less insight into her own reaction than she thinks. Check in more often than seems necessary.
The third person's position. A woman recruited into this is being asked to perform a role, not simply to turn up. She is entitled to know that in advance and to decline the parts she does not want.
If either partner is using this to express contempt that exists outside the bedroom, it is not a kink — it is a relationship problem wearing one. That distinction is usually obvious to both people if they are honest about it.

What is a cuckquean?
A woman whose arousal is connected to her partner's sexual involvement with other women — the direct counterpart of cuckolding, with the roles reversed.
Is it the same as cuckolding?
The same structure with the roles swapped. Cuckolding centres the man's experience of his partner being with others; cuckqueaning centres the woman's.
Why is so little written about it?
Cultural narratives around infidelity assume male jealousy, so the reverse gets little attention. Women who discuss it publicly also attract a particular kind of unwanted attention, which suppresses how much is said.
